Banbury's houses and the roofs on them
Banbury's older buildings are known for the local ironstone, the orange-brown stone you see around the Market Place, Banbury Cross and in the villages nearby. Victorian brick and stone terraces near the centre often carry slate roofs, and slate that old tends to slip as its nails rust. See my slate roofing page. Work on a listed building or in a conservation area may need Cherwell District Council's consent first.
The town grew a lot after the war, so most Banbury houses are on estates with concrete tiled roofs and flat roofs over garages and extensions. On the older estates the tiles, ridge and felt are often wearing out together, and the felt flat roofs have usually been patched more than once. A new roof is worth pricing alongside a repair when that happens.
I cover the whole town and the villages around it, including Bodicote, Adderbury, Bloxham, Drayton, Hanwell, Wroxton and Cropredy. Banbury is about 23 miles north of Oxford, and the visit is free.

Questions from Banbury
Do you cover Banbury and the villages around it?
Yes. I cover all of Oxfordshire, and that takes in Banbury and villages such as Bodicote, Adderbury, Bloxham and Cropredy. If you're not sure your street is in reach, WhatsApp your postcode and a photo of the roof to 07306 077999.
Can you repair the slate roof on my Victorian terrace?
Yes. I work on natural Welsh, Spanish and fibre-cement slate. A few slipped slates can be refixed or replaced. When many are slipping because the nails have rusted, re-slating is worth pricing, and slates still in good condition can be re-used. See my slate roofing page.
Do you take emergency call-outs in Banbury?
Yes. I take emergency calls 24/7, bank holidays included, and there's no extra charge for evenings or weekends. I make the roof safe first to stop the water, then come back to do the proper repair.
