Thame's houses and the roofs on them
Thame is an old market town built along one long, wide High Street, and the centre is a conservation area full of listed buildings: timber-framed and brick houses, coaching inns and shopfronts, many under old clay tiles. Repairs there should suit the building, and work on a listed one may need South Oxfordshire District Council's consent first. My heritage roofing page covers older roofs.
Behind the old centre the town has grown a lot since the war, so most Thame houses have concrete tiled roofs, with flat roofs over garages and extensions. Old chimney stacks are common on both. Loose pots, worn pointing and tired lead flashing around the stack let water in: see my chimney repairs page.
I cover the whole town and the villages around it, including Towersey, Tetsworth, Sydenham, Moreton and Chinnor. Thame is about 13 miles east of Oxford, and the visit is free.

Questions from Thame
Do you cover Thame and the villages around it?
Yes. I cover all of Oxfordshire, and that takes in Thame and villages such as Towersey, Tetsworth, Sydenham and Chinnor. If you're not sure your street is in reach, WhatsApp your postcode and a photo of the roof to 07306 077999.
Can you repair the old clay tile roof on my house in the town centre?
Yes. I work on old, period and listed buildings. On an old roof I re-use tiles that are still sound and use lime mortar where the building needs it. If the house is listed, check with the council before work starts, as some repairs need consent. My heritage roofing page has more.
Do you take emergency call-outs in Thame?
Yes. I take emergency calls 24/7, bank holidays included, and there's no extra charge for evenings or weekends. I make the roof safe first to stop the water, then come back to do the proper repair.
