Roof leak repair in Oxford: traced to the source and fixed
I find where the water really gets in, whether a chimney, flashing, valley or slipped tile, and fix it, across Oxford and Oxfordshire, day or night.
Usually with you in about an hour for an emergency
Roof leak repair in Oxford starts with finding where the water actually gets in, which is rarely right above the stain on your ceiling. Water runs along the felt and rafters before it drips, so I trace it back through the loft and over the roof to the source: a chimney, a flashing, a valley, a slipped tile or a flat roof joint. Then I fix that, aiming to get it right first time.
How I deal with a roof leak
Call or send a photo
Call 07306 077999 at any time, or WhatsApp a photo of the stain and the roof. Meanwhile, catch the drips and switch off any wet ceiling light.
I come out
For an emergency I'm usually with you in about an hour; otherwise usually the next day. The visit is free, day or night.
I trace the leak
I start in the loft, where the water shows, then check the roof above and uphill of it until I find where it gets in.
Quote and repair
I explain what's wrong and give you a free written quote. You pay the price we agreed; if I find more once I start, I talk it through with you first. Then I fix the cause.
Questions about roof leaks
How do you find where a roof leak is coming from?
I work back from where the water shows to where it gets in. In the loft I look for wet timber, stained felt and daylight, then on the roof I check everything above and uphill of that spot: tiles, flashings, valleys and the chimney. Water can run a long way along a rafter or the felt before it drips, so the stain is rarely under the fault.
Why does my roof leak only in heavy rain?
Because heavy rain, especially with wind behind it, reaches gaps that light rain doesn't. Wind drives water up under tiles and behind flashings, and a downpour can overflow a partly blocked valley or gutter, so water spills sideways under the tiles. A hairline crack in flaunching may only show after a long, heavy spell. It's still worth fixing before it rots the battens.
What if another roofer already tried to fix the leak?
Then I start again from the source, not from their repair. A repair that didn't work usually treated where the water showed, not where it got in. In January 2025, in OX3, a customer's chimney leak had come back after another roofer's repair: I found the cause, fixed it and gave a guarantee on the work. Photos of the earlier repair help, if you have them.
