Henley's roofs, from Hart Street to the Chiltern villages
Henley is an old Thames market town, known around the world for its regatta, and its centre has kept a great many old buildings. Hart Street, Bell Street, the Market Place and the streets down to the 18th-century bridge sit in a conservation area full of listed houses, inns and shops, and plenty of the brick fronts there hide older timber-framed buildings behind them. Their roofs are mostly old clay tile, with steep pitches, valleys and chimneys. Repairs there should suit the building, and some may need consent from the council first. My heritage roofing page explains how I approach old roofs.
Once the railway reached Henley in Victorian times the town spread up the hills to the west, and many of the larger Victorian and Edwardian houses there have slate roofs, often with lead valleys and flashings that have been there a long time. See my slate roofing page for what I do on these.
I cover all of Henley and the villages around it in Oxfordshire, including Harpsden, Shiplake, Rotherfield Greys, Rotherfield Peppard, Sonning Common, Binfield Heath and Nettlebed. For planned work I'll arrange a visit to look; emergencies I take 24/7, with no extra charge out of hours.

Questions from Henley-on-Thames
Do you cover Henley-on-Thames? It has a Reading postcode.
Yes. Henley has an RG9 postcode, but the town is in Oxfordshire, and I cover all of Oxfordshire. That includes the villages around it, such as Harpsden, Shiplake, the Rotherfields, Sonning Common and Nettlebed. If you'd like to check first, WhatsApp me your postcode and a photo of the roof on 07306 077999.
Can you work on an old clay tile roof in the town centre?
Yes. I work on old, period and listed buildings, and on old roofs and chimneys I use lime mortar for bedding and pointing. If the old tiles are in good condition I re-use them. Some work on a listed building needs consent from the council before it starts, so check that first. My heritage roofing page has more.
Do you charge more to come out to Henley, or at night?
No. The visit is free wherever you are in Oxfordshire, and there's no extra charge for evenings, weekends or bank holidays. The quote is free and in writing, and you pay the price agreed before I start.
