Guttering in Oxford is the work I do at the roof's edge: repairing leaking joints and sagging runs, replacing gutters that have had their day, and clearing them when they're blocked. I also replace the fascias the gutters hang on, and the soffits under the eaves, when the timber has rotted.

The work
Old gutters and boards come down, and new boards and gutters go up with the right fall to each outlet. The old boards, gutters and waste go into a skip and are taken away.
Questions about gutters and fascias
Why are my gutters overflowing?
Gutters usually overflow because they're blocked, most often with leaves or moss washed off the roof. If they're clear, the run may have lost its fall, or the gutter may be too small for the roof draining into it. Overflow at one corner under a valley often needs a bigger outlet or an extra downpipe.
Should I replace wooden fascias with uPVC?
Usually yes, if the wooden fascias are rotten: uPVC doesn't rot or need painting. Full replacement boards beat plastic caps over old timber, because the rafter ends get checked and the rot isn't hidden. A listed building or conservation area may require timber. I fit fascias and soffits in either uPVC or timber.
Do you clear gutters as well as repair them?
Yes, I clear gutters as well as repairing and replacing them. Clearing is often all a gutter needs, and late autumn, once the leaves are down, is a good time. If it still overflows once it's clear, the joints or the fall need a look.
