Chipping Norton's houses and the roofs on them
Chipping Norton is a Cotswold wool town, and its centre is built of the local limestone. Around the Market Place, the Town Hall and St Mary's Church many roofs are stone slate, laid in diminishing courses, with stone chimney stacks. The centre is a conservation area, so repairs should suit the building, and work on a listed one may need West Oxfordshire District Council's consent first. On old stone I use lime mortar for bedding and pointing. See my heritage roofing page.
It's the highest town in Oxfordshire, so roofs here take the wind. Slipped slates and tiles, loose ridges and worn pointing on chimney stacks are what the weather finds first. My chimney repairs page covers the stacks. Newer houses on the edges of town have concrete tiles and flat roofs over garages and extensions.
I cover the whole town and the villages around it, including Over Norton, Salford, Churchill, Kingham, Enstone, Great Rollright and Hook Norton. Chipping Norton is about 20 miles north-west of Oxford, and the visit is free.

Questions from Chipping Norton
Do you cover Chipping Norton and the villages around it?
Yes. I cover all of Oxfordshire, and that takes in Chipping Norton and villages such as Over Norton, Churchill, Kingham, Enstone and Hook Norton. If you're not sure your street is in reach, WhatsApp your postcode and a photo of the roof to 07306 077999.
Do you work on Cotswold stone slate roofs?
Yes. I work on old, period and listed buildings, including stone slate roofs. Where the old slates are still sound I re-use them, and I use lime mortar on old stone. If the house is listed or in a conservation area, check with the council before work starts, as some repairs need consent. See my heritage roofing page.
Do you take emergency call-outs in Chipping Norton?
Yes. I take emergency calls 24/7, bank holidays included, and there's no extra charge for evenings or weekends. I make the roof safe first to stop the water, then come back to do the proper repair.
